- ccccoooonnnnffffiiiiggggNNNNeeeettttIIIIffff configures the network interfaces on the system. This command
- not only updates the given network interface, but also updates relevant
- system files. This command is used by the _S_e_t _U_p _a_n_d _S_t_a_r_t _N_e_t_w_o_r_k_i_n_g and
- _T_u_r_n _O_f_f _N_e_t_w_o_r_k_i_n_g tasks.

- ----iiii <_i_n_t_e_r_f_a_c_e>
- The network interface ( ec0, ec1, ... ). This should be a valid
- interface name on the system. For a list of all the network
- interfaces on the system, use, _n_e_t_s_t_a_t -_i. ccccoooonnnnffffiiiiggggNNNNeeeettttIIIIffff quits with a
- non-zero error number if the given <_i_n_t_e_r_f_a_c_e> name is invalid. _l_o_0
- is not a valid interface.
-
- ----pppp Primary interface. ccccoooonnnnffffiiiiggggNNNNeeeettttIIIIffff allows operations on the primary
- interface if the <_i_n_t_e_r_f_a_c_e> is not passed in. If the command is
- invoked with both the arguments, it sets the current <_i_n_t_e_r_f_a_c_e> to
- be the primary interface. By default, if no <_i_n_t_e_r_f_a_c_e> name or ----pppp
- options are passed in, then, ccccoooonnnnffffiiiiggggNNNNeeeettttIIIIffff assumes the primary
- interface.
-
- ----hhhh <_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e>
- The hostname. ccccoooonnnnffffiiiiggggNNNNeeeettttIIIIffff configures the given network interface
- with the passed in <_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e>, after validating the name. If the
- interface is the primary interface, it updates the /_e_t_c/_s_y_s__i_d file
- along with updating the /_e_t_c/_h_o_s_t_s database.
-
- ----aaaa <_I_P _a_d_d_r_e_s_s>
- The IP address. ccccoooonnnnffffiiiiggggNNNNeeeettttIIIIffff configures the given network interface
- with the passed in <_I_P _a_d_d_r_e_s_s>, after validating the address. If
- the interface is the primary interface, it updates _n_v_r_a_m _n_e_t_a_d_d_r,
- along with updating the /_e_t_c/_h_o_s_t_s database.
-
- ----mmmm <_n_e_t_m_a_s_k>
- The Sub netmask. ccccoooonnnnffffiiiiggggNNNNeeeettttIIIIffff configures the given network interface
- with the passed in <_n_e_t_m_a_s_k>, after validating the netmask. For more
- information on the netmask, see _i_f_c_o_n_f_i_g(_1_M).
-
- ----rrrr <_m_e_t_r_i_c>
- The Routing Metric. Set the interface routing metric to <_m_e_t_r_i_c>.
- The default is 0.

- ----dddd _o_n|_o_f_f
- Let the DHCP client configure this interface. If not specified,
- default is off.
-
- ----nnnn Restart the network after making the changes. This has the effect
- of killing any applications with files open on a network file system
- or current working directories in network file system. If this
- switch is not used, the system will not be fully configured until
- the network is restarted (such as with a reboot).
-
- uuuupppp||||ddddoooowwwwnnnn
- The network interface state. Currently, if no interface is
- specified, the command turns on or off the system networking state (
- _c_h_k_c_o_n_f_i_g(_1_M) ).
